Cold Weather - Service Changes
1/30/2026
Havana Residents - With the coming cold temps, the Town is making the following changes to ensure continuity of service:
Friday - Meter Readers will start reading today (Friday 1/30/26) which is one day earlier than normal to avoid reading on Monday morning in freezing temps.
Sunday - Water crews will be on standby in Havana on Sunday morning to monitor and ensure the safety of our water system.
Sunday & Monday - Havana's waste water treatment plant, primary water well, and two high-flow lift stations will all move to diesel power during peak electricity usage (5a - 9a)
Monday - Town Hall will delay opening on Monday until 10am to avoid using electricity during peak time (5a - 9a), Town Crews will be in Havana at 8am ready to respond to any utility issues.
On Monday morning, we anticipate a strong peak in electricity usage as businesses and schools re-open after going unheated or underheated over the weekend. If at all possible, please avoid any unnecessary electric consumption during that time such as using washing machines or dishwashers or charging electric vehicles. We are also asking that businesses consider delaying opening on Monday if possible.
Reminder: If you experience a utility issue after hours, please call Havana Police Department at 850-539-2801 to report it so that the appropriate utility crews can be dispatched.
